### The Peninsula Beijing: the all-suite alternative **The Peninsula Beijing** is an all-suite luxury hotel on Goldfish Lane in Wangfujing. It is worth comparing when room size, service and sharing space with family matter most. Some recent comparisons mention busy public areas, however, so travellers expecting a quiet small hotel should also compare The PuXuan and Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing. ## Qianmen and Chongwenmen: old Beijing in the morning and evening Qianmen suits travellers who want to combine the Temple of Heaven, Zhengyangmen and Dashilar on the same south-Beijing day. The main value is walking the area before day visitors arrive and after they leave. Moving slightly east to Chongwenmen adds easier metro connections and everyday shopping. **Mandarin Oriental Qianmen** is a courtyard hotel in Caochang Hutong. ## Guomao and Sanlitun: business, modern Beijing and dinner Choose Guomao when CBD work and east-side transport matter most; choose Sanlitun for restaurants and nightlife. Both work well for 798 Art District and the Capital Airport side of the city, but require more margin for an early Forbidden City reservation. There is no need to force a hutong hotel into every “authentic Beijing” trip. If you explore historic districts by day and eat in modern Beijing at night, Guomao or Sanlitun may create the more natural itinerary. ### JEN Beijing by Shangri-La: use Guomao as the base **JEN Beijing by Shangri-La** is on Jianguomenwai Avenue in the Guomao area. It suits business trips, CBD meals and itineraries weighted to east Beijing. The point is not proximity to imperial sights but a short return after work or dinner. For a first trip covering only the Forbidden City, Qianmen and Temple of Heaven in two days, the repeated westbound travel adds up. Recent Chinese-language stays often praise the location and contemporary design, while also mentioning road congestion, semi-open bathrooms and inconsistent service. It works well for couples with several evening plans, but it is not my default for a first family visit or a dawn start at the Forbidden City. Study room photographs to see whether the sleeping area can be fully separated from the vanity and bathroom.

## Universal Beijing Resort: split the hotel stay for the park day Universal Beijing Resort is far east of central Beijing, and a pre-opening start creates a completely different day from city sightseeing. Compare the official **Universal Studios Grand Hotel** for the entrance and full theme experience with **NUO Resort Hotel** for more space and a quieter night. ### Universal Studios Grand Hotel: pay for the entrance location The Grand Hotel stands at the park entrance and suits families wanting the shortest possible walk from before opening until after closing. The film and character theming continues through the hotel. Some stays find the rooms small for the price, however, so compare NUO if recovery time and floor area matter more.

### NUO Resort Hotel: more room and a quieter night NUO Resort Hotel advertises a location about five minutes on foot from the park, 400 rooms and an indoor pool. It suits families who value a larger room, calmer public spaces and rest after the park more than the feeling of staying directly at the gate.

Guests at both official hotels can receive entry up to one hour before general opening. A hotel booking does not necessarily include a park ticket: you still need valid admission and advance confirmation of the hotel stay. Check the hotel benefit, ticket and operating hours separately because the daily arrangements can change.

## Airport hotels: distinguish PEK from PKX first Beijing has Capital International Airport (PEK) and Daxing International Airport (PKX). A booking page that says only “Beijing airport hotel” is not enough. Match the airport code and terminal to the flight, then confirm the shuttle pickup point and schedule. ### Best PEK pick: Hilton Beijing Capital Airport **Hilton Beijing Capital Airport** states that it is within a ten-minute drive of Terminals 2 and 3 and operates a free 24-hour airport shuttle. Recent stays praise breakfast, family facilities and transit convenience, while some find the rooms and fittings dated. It is the easiest default for families and trips where the PEK terminal is not yet fixed. “24-hour shuttle” does not mean a vehicle is waiting at all times, so reconfirm the pickup point, frequency and contact method for the arrival terminal.

### Compare Cordis for the T3 side and room condition **Cordis Beijing Capital Airport** has an address on the Terminal 3 side of PEK and is easy to frame as a one-night airport stay. Its official site lists 268 rooms, an indoor pool and fitness facilities. There is less independent recent discussion than for the Hilton, so use it as the alternative when its T3-side location, current room photographs or live rate offer a clear advantage. An “airport hotel” is not automatically an indoor walk from arrivals; verify the terminal route and shuttle times. ### Best PKX pick: MUMIAN Beijing Daxing Airport **MUMIAN Beijing Daxing International Airport** is the PKX-side property. Its official site lists an address within the Daxing airport complex and 470 rooms, making it a candidate specifically for a PKX arrival or departure. Booking a hotel near the wrong “Beijing airport” is a major error. Make sure **PKX** appears on both the hotel confirmation and the flight ticket.
